Foundations has a strong clinical emphasis. Many of our students are clinically complex and thus need a sophisticated therapeutic approach. Our therapists are highly skilled in working with students with a wide range of presenting issues, most commonly:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Unhealthy Coping skills (substance abuse, video game addiction, etc.)
  • Anger
  • Unhealthy Relationships
  • Academic and Family Struggles
  • Adoption and Attachment Related Issues

Therapists are heavily involved in the academic and residential components of our students’ lives. Our students have at least one individual therapy session per week, one family session per week, and several groups per week. We emphasize family therapy and want our families to be a part of our treatment team. Some of our groups include:

  • Anxiety management
  • Decision making
  • Adoption
  • Sand tray
  • DBT
  • Online/screen/gaming
  • Dorm processing
  • Five Principles for Effective Living

We believe in providing a well rounded experience for our boys. Many of our students come to us stuck in a life “rut.” Our goal is to expand their range of activities and interests to something broader than what they have typically been experiencing. We believe that through healthy activities, our boys grow, expand, and have fun. Our students participate in weekly Phase activities that typically include things such as: movies, going out to eat, mini golf, bowling, Utah State University athletic events, go-karts, and the Fun Park. Our students also participate in a weekend dorm activity that includes: rock climbing, disc golf, hiking, fishing, and ice skating. Our students also have the opportunity to purchase a membership at a local gym and attend 3 times a week to improve their physical fitness and overall physical well being.

Each of our students will have the opportunity to be involved with our adventure learning curriculum. This program changes with the seasons as we live in a beautiful area with four distinct seasons. These activities are designed to enhance self-esteem, improve social skills, and learn how to have fun in a variety of ways. Adventure learning trips include activities such as: multi-day camping trips, white water rafting trips, skiing, snowboarding, ice fishing, mountain biking, and snow shoeing. Our students also participate in service activities in the community.

Foundations is a specialized program designed to provide superior treatment to boys struggling with a issues such as depression, anxiety, anger, family issues, etc. The program is built on the Five Principles for Effective Living – Honesty, Respect, Accountability, Fairness, and Caring. Our program emphasizes developing, improving, and maintaining healthy relationships in life. Our dedicated team works to help our boys in an individualized way. We use evidence-based practices and techniques in all that we do.
